Dimapur

Nagaland University (NU) has joined 22 other Indian universities in signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS), an autonomous think tank under the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.
The MoU was signed during the International Conference on “Global South and Triangular Cooperation: Emerging Facets,” held on June 3 and 4.
NU was represented by Professor Jayanta Choudhury, Head of the Department of Rural Development and Planning, while RIS Director General, Professor Sachin Chaturvedi signed on behalf of the think tank.
The agreement establishes a University Connect Hub to promote collaborative research, knowledge sharing, and capacity building between NU and RIS. Planned activities include joint research projects, faculty exchange programs, seminars on global economic issues, climate change, development finance, and the dissemination of research publications.
Additionally, Professor Jayanta Choudhury achieved a milestone by becoming the first academic from North East India to be appointed to the Steering Committee of the Forum for India Development Cooperation (FIDC), a prestigious platform under RIS.
This partnership aims to strengthen research opportunities and contribute to national and international policy discussions.
