Naga United Village Ao Senso Telongjem (NUAST) has appealed the deputy commissioner Dimapur to extend the NST bus service till the Naga United Village daily bazaar at the earliest to cater to the needs of the citizens facing untold miseries before things go out of control.
In an appeal letter, NUAST president, Kilenkaba and general secretary Taongnukshi stated that it has been more than two weeks since the collapse of the Chathe River bridge on July 11 but till now nothing has been done by the concerned authorities to mitigate the problem of the general public starting from Naga United Village till Nuiland sub-division where thousands of people and hundreds of villages are settled.
NUAST stated that now with the summer vacation of schools and colleges was almost over, it has become a problem for the parents as to how to send their children to their institutions. It stated that most of the parents were labourers and daily wage earners whose children were studying beyond the Chathe River, with the auto fare charges at Rs. 150 per passenger between Showuba to 4th Mile.
NUAST stated that it was beyond parents’ strength to send the children to schools and colleges with a travel time of more than one and half hour. NUAST stated that the village itself have Government High School, one college, three private schools catering to the needs of hundreds of students and faculty who needed to cross the river to reach their institutions.
NUAST therefore has earnestly appealed the DC Dimapur to look into the grievances of the people and to provide NST bus service in the said area.
