Lamenting that Nagaland lagged behind in development index, minister for planning & coordination, land revenue and parl. affairs stressed that it was important to resolve the Naga issue. For this reason Kronu reiterated that the move for an “opposition-less” government (Nagaland United Government) was to facilitate the Naga peace process in order to accelerate development in the State.
Talking to mediapersons here, Kronu assured that all efforts would be made to bring the negotiation parties to understand each other. He also informed that the cabinet recently met governor and interlocutor for Naga talks, RN Ravi and urged him “to not give up and to keep the talks alive”.
With Ravi’s experience in handling the issue, Kronu was optimistic that the talks would not be abandoned.
On NUG, Kronu said that a mechanism would be put in place so that both the opposition and ruling parties understand each other and for which a meeting will be held in this regard. On the delay in formation of NUG and whether BJP was the reason, Kronu replied it was the desire of the central BJP leadership that the political parties must come together.
He said BJP central leadership had insisted that the October 15, 2020 consultative meeting resolution should be endorsed by both NPF and PDA coalition and called for issuing a joint statement, which was already done
He said chief minister Neiphiu Rio had returned from Delhi with a positive response from the central BJP leadership that his leadership would continue.
