Extending support to Nagaland University Students’ Union (NUSU) Lumami over scholarship issue, NUSU Kohima Campus, Meriema organised a candlelight protest on November 18 by holding a procession in an attempt to highlight the “corruption in department of higher education”.
According to NUSU (M), the procession was led by its vice president, A. Eyingbeni Odyuo, who also asserted that the concerned department should release the remaining amount and provide an answer in the span of the given time.
Failing which, Odyuo said the student body would take further course of actions.
Assistant prefect of campus men’s hostel, Inthono, also stated that the department should not “snatch away their rights” and that the students need transparency”.
NUSU (M) stated that the majority of students depend on their scholarship for academic fees and asserted that it would stand beside the same demands of NUSU (L).
It said the students of Nagaland University would continue to unite and fight for what was rightfully theirs until justice was meted out.
