Tuberculosis (TB) patients in Kohima received nutritional support under the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (PMTBMBA) at a programme held at the Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) Auditorium on August 9.
According to DIPR report, the initiative, sponsored through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme of North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (NEDFi), was implemented by the NEDFi Kohima Branch Office in collaboration with the District TB Centre, Kohima. Nutritional kits were formally handed over by K. PMTBMBA, also known as the Nikshay 2.0 Campaign, was launched virtually on September 9, 2022, by the President of India. The campaign encourages community participation through donors known as Nikshay Mitras, who support TB patients with nutritional, vocational, and diagnostic assistance.
The initiative aims to improve treatment outcomes, reduce stigma, and enhance public awareness about TB. It also seeks to minimize out-of-pocket expenses for patients’ families and strengthen India’s commitment to eliminate TB by 2025.
