A one-day training programme for Community Health Officers (CHOs) was conducted on February 27 at SIRD Auditorium Hall, Kohima, organized by the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) under the Directorate of Health & Family Welfare.
According to a press release from NVBDCP, the training focused on Refresher Training and Integrated Health Information Platform (IHIP) Vector Borne Disease (VBD) Portal Training, aimed at strengthening the capacity of frontline health workers across Nagaland.
The sessions covered key technical and operational areas including malaria treatment protocols, recording and reporting of M-Formats, practical exercises on M-Formats, usage of Long-Lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLIN), strengthening risk communication and community engagement (RCCE) in VBD control, blood slide preparation and safe practices, use of Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) kits with result interpretation, and training on IHIP-IDSP and IHIP-VBD portals. Discussions and feedback sessions were also held.
The technical sessions were facilitated by the State NVBDCP team led by Deputy Director, Dr. Tinurenla Anichari, along with PH & Training Consultant, Imsubenala, IEC/BCC consultant, Marykali Yepthomi, and State Lab Technician, Ameri Savi.
A total of 151 Community Health Officers from across all districts of Nagaland participated in the training.
The programme also benefitted from expert inputs by Dr. Naveen Aggarwal (WHO, IHIP-Malaria Focal Point, New Delhi) and Dr. Limasenla A. Lemtur, State Epidemiologist, IDSP, Directorate of Health & Family Welfare.
