A press release from Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organisation press and media cell stated that, Savi stressed on right to safety where he said that the consumer’s right to safety was as vast in its purview as the market reach itself.

He said that it applies to all possible consumption patterns and to all goods and services.

Safety of natural food products is also a problem of growing concern since due to increased chemical inputs in farms, the NVCO president said, food supply is being contaminated with pesticides and chemicals.

Consumers need to become accountable for their consumption patterns and their serious environmental and economic implications, he said. Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organisation will observe the week-long National Consumer Rights Day.
