The 14th Open Naga Wrestling & 1st Belt Wrestling Championship under the aegis of Naga Wrestling Association (NWA) will be held on March 17 and 18, 2023 at State Stadium Dimapur.
Addressing a press conference at its office at AMK building, here on Thursday, NWA president, Dr Hiabe Zeliang said this year the event was relocated to Dimapur mainly to promote and encourage Naga Style of Wrestling and also the Belt Wrestling styles.
At the same time, he said the event was also relocated to encourage other Naga tribes to come and be part of the event and also be associated with NWA.
Hiabe said the event was also to provoke and motivate young athletes in the field of sports, especially in the art of Naga wrestling.
Citing that Nagas were preoccupied with the State general elections, Hiabe suggested that people should take a break from their busy schedules to come and witness the event and rejuvenate themselves.
Meanwhile, NWA has extended invitation to all the Naga tribes to come and participate in the event all the whole promote the beautiful game.
The association invited all Naga brothers to participate in the championship and informed that registration forms would be made available at Sports World, Colors Studio in Kohima, United Sports Agency in Dimapur, Ada Nsanglung Grocery in Peren, and S Printer Enterprise in Phek.
The association informed that the last date for submission of the form would be on March 13, 2023.
The event will be held with the primary focus on bringing the Naga tribes together.
