The Under-15 Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) team will depart for Nagpur on June 20 for participation in the National Wrestling Championship which is to be held from June 21 to 22, at Nagpur, Maharashtra.
A press release by the publicity secretary of NWA, Seyielhouvi Nagi stated that the team comprises of seven Under-15 wrestlers and two coaches. The team is led by Nagaland State Coach Kikhwesül Thokhwe and Vekhriyi Chüzho, Technical Secretary NWA.
The U-15 team comprises of C. Renjanthung Jami (38Kg), Peilungningteibo (41Kg) and Nuvove Theluo (48 Kg) in the Freestyle Category. Vimeyie Zecho (48 Kg) in Greco Roman Style. Sedengunuo Zecho (33Kg), Esther (42Kg) and Chumoi Phom (46Kg) in Women Wrestling.
The National Wrestling Championship is being organized by the Maharashtra Rajya Kustigir Sangh under the aegis of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI).
A brief send off program for the team was held on Thursday at Wrestling Hall B, IG Stadium, where Vivolie Kezo, President NWA exhorted the players. The Nagaland Wrestling Association also appeals to the public and the wrestling fraternity to uphold the team in their prayers.
