NWU condemns murder of Leiyaton Soro

Naga Women’s Union (NWU) has strongly condemned the murder of Leiyaton Soro, from Ukhrul District of Manipur, aged between 27 to 28. A press release by its publicity wing said that the nurse was found dead in downhill cliff at Ryndang Briew, on the Shillong – Guwahati Highway.  
The press release added that the NWU is “deeply saddened by the murder of Leiyaton Soro.” It stated that the perpetrators should be booked and given befitting punishment to prevent such crimes against innocent people in the future. It demanded that the concerned authorities conduct a proper investigation of the incident, book the culprit(s) and deliver justice at the earliest.
The release also pleaded for stopping “the code of silence and understand that women are the backbone of the society”.
