Nehru Yuva Kendra, Kohima, has conducted a District Youth Convention at LCS Building, Kohima, on February 6 with Sidramapa, MC, as the chief guest, where 80 youths from various youth clubs attended the programme.
Addressing the youth, the chief guest said India is a land of young people and have good working force like the USA and China. He called upon the youth to come and join the productive work force for economic development.
The chief guest has appreciated NYKS structure laid down for the youth at all levels by way of youth clubs or other social organizations for positive contribution. At the same time, he regretted that the youth of the state misses professionalism and infrastructural building which is a must for the youth. He categorically said that the youth of the state need more competitive spirit.
He has called upon the youth to take up skills development and skills upgradation with seriousness so as to be ready for the job market. He viewed that lack of self awareness and skills among the youth would lead to unemployment in the state.
John Makhabo, DYC, NYK, Kohima, in his keynote address, called the youth to put more voluntary service for the development of the district and state. He also asked the youth to be job providers rather than job seekers.
He strongly felt that there would be no employment problem in the State when the educated could provide a job each to lesser educated one.
On conferring the district level Best Youth Club Award 2014 to Fountain Club with cash award of Rs 25,000 and citation, Er. Seyievizo Tsükrü, President of Fountain Club, has thanked NYK for honouring the club with the award.
Sidramapa, the chief guest, also gave away sport materials to the applicants from youth clubs.
The day programme was anchored by Miss Medonuo Sopfünuo, while the invocation prayer was led by Mezhüzolie Meyase, Associate Pastor of Naga Bazaar Baptist Church, Kophima. The vote of thanks was delivered by Pukil Kintso.
