Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Wokha under the ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports organized “District Youth Convention” on Thursday at the district planning and machinery hall, Wokha with Deputy Commissioner (DC) Wokha, A. Robin Lotha as chief guest and zonal director NYKS Kohima, Jackie Ruvah as guest of honour.
In his address, the DC encouraged the youth saying they could do many things for the betterment of the society. He challenged them to bring positive changes in their respective community, church and villages. The DC also said that activities of the youth clubs needed to be promoted through the programmes and activities of NYK.
Zonal director, Jackie Ruivah appreciated the efforts made by NYK Wokha for organising the programme in the larger interest of the youth in the district. Christian Modern High School, Wokha also presented choreography in the youth convention.
In his keynote address DYC Y. Laksman Singh clearly pointed out that district youth coordinator aimed at promoting the role and responsibility of the youth in community development.
Thavaseelan IAS highlighted all the flagship programmes of the government. Asalie Lese spoke about the role of youth clubs in building the nation.
The deliberation was followed by taking recommendation, which included that youth clubs would take initiative to disseminate information about the flagship programmes to the community, youth clubs would organise debates to discuss various issues in the society, and youth clubs could assist and aid district administration and NGOs in implementing programmes meant for the public.
Later, the DC also distributed sports materials to the youth clubs. NYK also inaugurated seven days non residential life skill education training camp at Mount Siani School with EAC (judicial) Tsutsowe Kupa as the guest of honour.
The convention was attended by around 60 youth leaders from Wokha district, where the resource persons were SDO (C ) Thavaseelan IAS and EAC Asalie Lese.
