NZP gets specially designed squeeze cage

Nagaland Zoological Park (NZP), Rangapahar was equipped with a lightweight special resizeable squeeze-cum-transportation cage on the eve of the New Year.
A press release by NZP director, Obed Bohovi Swu stated that the cage which has a movable wall would help in holding large carnivores safely for veterinary procedures, which would also be useful in transporting the animals for short distances within the zoo complex.
The release mentioned that the cage was designed and fabricated by No.1 Workshop Assam Rifles located at 3rd Mile, Dimapur as a civic action project. It is an innovative design since squeeze cages were generally of fixed length while this design has been constructed in two parts and of variable length.
NZP further expressed sincere appreciation to Lt. Col Jaishankar, Commandant, No.1 Workshop Assam Rifles, 3rd Mile Dimapur for his personal interest and initiative to help the Nagaland Zoological Park through this project.
