To fight against illicit drug menace in Peren district, the Nagaland Zeliang People Organization (NZPO) conducted it general meeting with all the heads of different churches, college, schools and civil society organisations along with Excise department.
A press release issued by NZPO stated that it has briefed the civil administration and police about the illicit drug menace, abuse and trafficking within Peren district.
Members present discussed how to control further spread of drug addiction by youth and how to eradicate drug addiction and trafficking. In the meeting, members present urged the education institutions and churches to take up the challenges and educate the youths, its side effects of drugs addiction.
It also appealed the civil society organisations and village councils to co-operate and help government agencies to catch the traffickers.
Special invitees who spoke in the meeting were, former director Shalom Rehabilitation Centre, Rev. Fr. Chacko, Robin Ndang and Kikum from Operation Salvage Rehabilitation Centre, Heningkunglwa.
