Observance of Naga National Martyrs’ Day

DIMAPUR: Naga National Council (NNC) has called upon all Naga people in the homeland and abroad, including those in foreign countries and Naga inhabited territories, to observe Naga National Martyrs’ Day on October 18, 2026, in solemn remembrance of the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the cause of Naga sovereignty.
NNC stated that the day has been regarded as a sacred and solemn national obligation for every Naga to honour the thousands of martyrs who laid down their lives in the struggle for Naga freedom from 1952 to the present day. Their sacrifices, it said, remain an enduring part of Naga history and must never be forgotten by future generations.
Calling upon all Nagas to observe the day with dignity, unity and earnest prayer, the NNC urged the people to seek God’s blessings and strength for the present generation to persevere in the pursuit of legitimate historical and political rights, including recognition of the Naga people and nation.
