Advisor for Transport and Technical Education and MLA of 29 Jangpetkong Assembly Constituency, Temjenmenba, inaugurated the newly constructed community building “Odangba Memorial Ki” at Chungliyimsen village on August 23.
According to media cell of 29 Jangpetkong Assembly Constituency, the building, constructed under the Local Area Development Programme (LADP), will serve as an office-cum-guest house and stands as a tribute to late Odangba, the first pastor of Chungliyimsen Baptist Church (1903–1905), who was also the great grandfather of the legislator.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, Temjenmenba described the occasion as one of deep personal and communal significance. He recalled pastor Odangba as a man of unwavering faith who led with humility and conviction, laying the spiritual foundation that continues to guide the community today.
“The memorial hall is not merely a structure of stone and brick, but a symbol of Pastor Odangba’s enduring legacy—a beacon of inspiration for generations to come,” Temjenmenba said, expressing pride and gratitude in honouring his ancestor’s contributions.
Earlier, the programme began with an invocation by the pastor of NCRC Chungliyimsen, followed by a welcome address from Village Council chairman N. Yanger Imchen. A special song was presented by Watsu Telen Chungliyimsen to mark the occasion. The event was attended by residents of Chungliyimsen and NDPP party leaders.
