The 24th general session of Sumi Officers’ Union Dimapur (SOUD) on the theme ‘Kuqhakulu lokutsu’ (Collective wisdom) was held on January 17 at Agri Expo site, 4th Mile, Dimapur.
KT Sukhalu, retired Commissioner and Secretary, addressed the day-long session that was attended by hundreds of Sumi officers as speaker. Sukhalu said officers are ambassadors of the people and asserted that officers must perform as to how people look upon them by serving them with humility – a vital aspect of life. Stating that with humility they could work in any given situation, he urged the officers to let the people judge them by their performance by using the best of their abilities and not by their status.
The IAS officer opined that the society could prosper only with progressive and collective thoughts of the people. As officers, the speaker urged the officers not to keep ideas and information only to themselves but disseminate among the mass. Maintaining that education is wealth, the speaker said officers, who are the stars and cream of the society, need to go to the villages and share the true essence of education.
Delivering a short speech, Kikheto Sema (IAS), Secretary Finance, spoke about the need for the society to move on with retrospection while also keeping alive the culture and traditions. He also urged the officers to humble themselves before God and to be sincere in serving the people.
Also speaking on the occasion, Shiwoto Wotsa, Senior Superintendent of Police (Vigilance) said officers are shouldered with immense responsibility. He said such an occasion is an appropriate platform to interact and to work with collective effort for the progress of the society.
