
A team consisting of Deputy Chief Medical Officer Mokokchung, Food Safety Officer, Inspector MMC and four EAC’s inspected hotels, restaurants and food stalls including the Government Circuit House and Commissioner’s Rest House Mokokchung.
A press release from the department stated that during the inspection, food safety licences, personal hygiene of the food handlers, store rooms, sanitation of the kitchen and vicinity, water source and its reservoirs, toilets and medical fitness certificate of the food handlers were checked.
Also, importance of “hand working” and hand washing techniques were demonstrated for the food handlers and workers during the inspection. Later the team issued official improvement notifications to the proprietors of five restaurants and hotels for necessary corrections to be completed within 20 days.
