Oking Outlaws clinch Kohima Premier League Season 2 title

CorrespondentKOHIMA, FEB 21 (NPN):

Oking Outlaws were crowned champions of the Kohima Premier League (KPL) Season 2 after defeating Capital Sixers in a gripping final played under the aegis of the Kohima District Cricket Association, at Sovima Cricket Ground, Chümoukedima, on Saturday.
Winning the toss, Oking Outlaws elected to bowl first and put Capital Sixers in to bat. The Sixers posted a competitive total of 139 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Imomenba anchored the innings with a steady 31 runs, while Zipa and Peter contributed 27 and 20 runs respectively to push the scoreboard to a respectable total.
Despite the fighting total, the Sixers’ innings was punctuated by regular breakthroughs from the Outlaws’ bowlers. Thupuluzo delivered a match-defining spell, claiming four crucial wickets, while Kevilelie chipped in with two wickets to keep the pressure firmly on the batting side.
Chasing a target of 140, the Outlaws’ opening pair once again rose to the occasion. Suneper blazed his way to 54 runs, while Seyievizo complemented him with a fluent 45, laying a solid foundation for the chase.
Their commanding partnership ensured that Oking Outlaws overhauled the target in 19.1 overs, sealing the title in emphatic fashion.
Although Capital Sixers’ bowlers maintained disciplined line and length, their efforts proved insufficient to halt the Outlaws’ charge. Keviselhou returned figures of 2 for 31, while Solomon impressed with 2 for 18, but the scintillating batting display by the Outlaws ultimately carried the day.
For his outstanding four-wicket haul in the final, Thupuluzo was adjudged Man of the Match. Seyievizo’s consistent performances throughout the tournament earned him the Best Batsman award as well as the coveted Man of the Series title. Keviselhou of Capital Sixers was named Best Bowler, while Imlisunep was declared Best Wicketkeeper of the tournament.
The prize distribution programme was graced by Hyunilo Anilo Khing, honorary secretary of the Nagaland Cricket Association, as the special guest.
With a blend of disciplined bowling and explosive batting, Oking Outlaws capped off a remarkable campaign, etching their name as champions of the second edition of the Kohima Premier League.
