Ongpangkong Students’ Conference (OKM) has extended its full support to the Chungtia Students’ Union (CSU) over concerns regarding the prolonged delay and alleged poor quality of construction of the 50-bedded Integrated AYUSH Hospital at Sabangya, Mokokchung district.
In a press release OKM president Tongpangmangyang Kichu and general secretary Sungkumjang Kichu, commended CSU for its vigilant monitoring of the public health infrastructure project and for exposing serious irregularities in its execution.
Despite a sanctioned amount of Rs. 442.91 lakh and work orders issued over six years ago, OKM noted that construction has reached only 65% completion, with visible deficiencies in workmanship raising concerns over structural integrity and public safety. OKM endorsed CSU’s demand for immediate suspension of construction activities until a thorough quality assessment is carried out. It also supported the call for a Joint Technical Inspection involving departmental engineers and structural integrity tests such as Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity, Rebound Hammer, and Core Cut Sampling within a 10-day timeframe.
Stating that the people of Mokokchung deserve a healthcare facility built to the highest standards, OKM urged authorities to act swiftly, ensure transparency in the inspection process, initiate corrective measures if required, and hold those responsible for delays and lapses accountable.
