Okusa Toyota delivers NE first Toyota electric SUV, Urban Cruiser Ebella

DIMAPUR, JUN 25 (NPN): Okusa Toyota Pvt. Ltd. marked a major milestone in the Northeast’s transition to sustainable mobility by delivering the Urban Cruiser Ebella, Toyota’s latest all-electric SUV, at its showroom on Thilixu Road, Dimapur, on Friday. The delivery is believed to be the first Toyota electric vehicle (EV) in the Northeast and the second across India.
Speaking at the event, managing director, Okusa Toyota Pvt. Ltd., Y. Vikheho Swu, said the occasion represented more than the delivery of a vehicle, describing it as a step towards a cleaner and more sustainable future. He noted that the global automotive industry is rapidly embracing electric mobility to reduce carbon emissions and improve energy efficiency.
Swu highlighted Toyota’s three-decade leadership in electrification through hybrid and electric technologies, adding that the Urban Cruiser Ebella combines advanced safety features with intelligent driver assistance systems to provide a secure and environmentally friendly driving experience. He congratulated the first owner of the EV in the Northeast and thanked customers, the dealership team and the media for their support. Responding to concerns about the practicality of EVs in Nagaland, Okusa Toyota CEO Hokugha Yeptho said technological advancements make it essential for people to adapt to newer forms of mobility. He informed that the dealership has already installed EV charging facilities, while charging infrastructure is expected to expand gradually across hotels, commercial establishments and public parking areas in the state.
The Urban Cruiser Ebella is a Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) positioned in the mid-size compact SUV segment. It is powered by a 128 kW three-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor, producing 193 Nm of instant torque, offering smooth acceleration and a refined driving experience. The vehicle features front-wheel drive, 185 mm ground clearance, a 306-litre boot, and rides on 18-inch wheels with a full-size spare wheel.
The SUV is equipped with a 61 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery generating 381.6 volts and weight 471 kg, comprising 120 battery cells. It delivers an driving range of up to 543 kilometres on a single charge. Charging options include a 3.3 kW portable AC charger, which takes approximately 16–20 hours, a 7.2 kW home wallbox charger that fully charges the battery in around 7.5 hours, and a DC fast charger, capable of charging the battery in just 45 minutes.
Toyota offers an 8-year or 2 lakh kilometre warranty on the battery. The battery pack is IP67-rated, making it resistant to dust and capable of remaining submerged in up to one metre of water for 30 minutes. For enhanced safety, all high-voltage lines are insulated with orange cables, while the electrical system automatically isolates itself in the event of leakage. Inside, the Ebella offers a premium cabin with a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, ventilated front seats, 10-way power-adjustable seats, reclining and sliding rear seats, 40:20:40 split-fold rear seats, and 12-colour ambient lighting. Safety remains one of the vehicle’s strongest features, with seven airbags, a 360-degree camera, rain-sensing wipers, three levels of regenerative braking, Acoustic Vehicle Alert System for pedestrian safety at low speeds (1–25 km/h), and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
The Urban Cruiser Ebella is available in a fully loaded E3 variant, with customers able to choose from five exterior colours and four dual-tone colour options. Each vehicle also comes with a home charging unit installed for customer convenience.
