Deputy Commissioner Dimapur Kesonyu Yhome addressed the first district-level coordination meeting of Dimapur Swacch Bharat at the DC’s Conference hall Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, Yhome informed the gathering of over 40 attendees, that the district administration would, in coordination with the district brand ambassador, district nominees and district administrative officials, that Swacch Bharat would be undertaken in a systematic manner beginning with a pilot project in selected areas of Dimapur district.
He also highlighted on Swacch Bharat that it was not a programme but a multi-pronged mission for a clean environment, that seeks to eradicate Open Defecation by providing toilets for community and public, efficient disposal of waste and garbage in coordination with municipal authorities and spread awareness on cleanliness and hygiene among individuals and community.
Also speaking on the occasion, Swacch Bharat brand ambassador for Dimapur, Geoffrey Yaden introduced the nine mission members for Dimapur district and also encouraged each of them to also nominate persons having interest and commitment for a clean environment.
He also said Dimapur district was home to various tribes,from both within and outside Nagaland including various communities.
In view of Dimapur being the gateway and commercial centre, he urged upon all to take initiatives to bring about a transformation of the city, especially as the festive and tourist season was around the corner.
In his concluding remarks, the Yhome informed that the nominees in coordination with administration and other departments would delineate segments for the mission in Dimapur and for which a core committee would sit to deliberate on steps to be taken to achieve the mission which was to end by October 2,2019.
