As touched upon briefly in the first part of this subject matter, the NTC wish to impress rather inform the Naga Public that very unfortunately, the present Nagaland State Politics have been reduced to “a mere commercial thing” devoid of any noble political agendas, principles and ideologies. “The rational is that money decides everything in today’s Naga Politics”.
The political parties and their leaders simply try to perpetuate their rule by use of money and muscle power whenever they required. In other words, they hang on to political office simply to make money but not to bring any meaningful progress and development for the benefit of the people they represent. This is very evident and non can deny it. In the process, Nagaland is becoming complete mafia state” for which this small, poor state like ours have 1 CM, 2 Deputy CMs, and the other 28 or more Naga Political Groups do have their governments with Presidents, Prime Ministers and Chief of Army staff etc etc. within a small and almost failed State. We have too many heads of State trying to run their own governments/setups! This is ridiculous, irrational and unacceptable at all. It is indeed a laughing stock for others but this is the real picture of our state which some may not like to accept. If this political situation continues certainly time will come Nagas will fight the Nagas and not with our arch political opponent. Is this really the way our state government and the Naga Political groups handle this almost a century Naga political Issues? No, newer.
Whereas, the state government and the two major Naga Political groups have taken responsibility to pursue and bring early Naga Political settlement. The world knows it and they cannot backtrack or disown they responsibilities.
The Naga Public do really deserve and desire to have their legitimate rights to have benefit of this almost 1 century Naga Political struggles. “Enough is enough, no personal or group interests should deter or go against the wish, will, interest and welfare of the common Naga public. Therefore, the NTC make this sincere appeal to all the concern parties viz. the state government and the two major Naga Political Groups to kindly rededicate their commitments to bring early political solutions by implementing whatever political agreement they have made with the Government of India more than 10 years ago (18 years of ceasefire, 10 years of political agreements — 28 long years have been too long for solution!
The common Naga Public cannot be taken for granted that they will always “keep mum” and remain helpless spectators of this long overdue, perplex, confused Naga Political issue. Nagas must be given opportunity to live and march along with the rest of the world to enjoy the benefits of this 21st century progress and development for their survival and children’s future. The common Nagas have suffered too much for too long in the name of Naga Political struggle!
This chaos, confusion and uncertain Naga issue simply have produced some super and quick rich Naga leaders both of the State Government and Political groups, but the common Nagas have become too poor, neglected and deprived sections which is not at all fair and acceptable.
Because of this long protracted and unresolved Naga issue some state level NGO’s have become too familiar with certain political groups and have become their tacit supporters which divides the Naga Society more. Some Tribal leaders tend to support State Governments view and policy because of their selfish and personal benefits rather that the whole Naga Tribes/Community. There is no politics in what the NTC says or make mention of it. There are blaring facts and evidences. As a result the Naga Tribes and NGO’s cannot act together in unity and in one voice. As such, the Naga Political issue remains unattended and elusive.
Whereas, the NGO’s and Tribal Hoho’s are expected to support and stand on what is right and just on all important public issues. Whereas, this has not been the case for many of state level NGO’s. The present Naga political situation demands the role of all the important church bodies/organization to play their bounded role/duty to resolve this crisis by rendering their noble services to usher in a new era of peace, unity and all round development for the welfare and interest of all the Nagas through negotiations, talks, better understanding with the various groups/setups, GOI, and the State Government whichever or whatever is required to bring much awaited Naga Political Resolution/Settlement.
N.B. The Nagas as far as we know and understand have exhausted most of the means for achieving our political goal and aspirations.
- Arms struggles
- Ceasefire agreements through peaceful means and negotiations,
- Political Agreements with GOl in the last ten years.
Otherwise, in all this long almost a century political struggle the Naps have never ever given up our just political rights. - Submission of representation to Sir. Simmon Commission in 1929.
- 1947 Sir Akbar Ryder Ali Accord.
- 1947 14th August declaration of Naga Independence
- 1951 6th May voluntary Naga Plebiscites
- 1964 Peace Agreement / Ceasefire Agreement.
N.B. Whereas, the two major Naga Political Groups have voluntarily agreed and signed political agreements with the GUI in 2015 3rd August and 17th November 2017 for early Naga Political Settlement with the State Govt. of Nagaland as ‘Facilitator”. If there is failure or any shortcomings on this historical and important Naga Political issue, it is the present Naga Politicians/ the main negotiators who must have mishandled/mismanaged the affair. We cannot blame any other people .
Therefore, now the ball is in the court of the two major Political Groups and the State Govt. whether or not they will have taken responsibility of what they have committed/agreed and signed! For God’s sake, kindly do not allow the common Nagas to suffer this kind of humiliation, division and neglect.
To cut this long story short we have this important note to make things crystal clear that the two major Naga Political Groups have indeed agreed and signed their political agreements fully knowing and accepting the fact that Naga Political Solution will come with following conditions. - Sovereignty is ruled out because of changed world situations.
- Integration of Nagas Inhabited areas outside Nagaland is not possible.
- All the aspects of Naga Political Resolution will be within the Indian Constitutions.
Therefore, having committed., accepted and signed the Political Agreements, there is no reason why they should back off or back track, but try to implement the Agreement at an early date. The whole World knows it including the common Nagas. Kindly honour your commitments with prestige for the good of all Nagas. May God be our guide, witness and enabler to fulfil our dreams.
