KOHIMA, JUL 3 (NPN): An 18 year old worker sustained severe injuries after suffering an electric shock while painting a newly constructed welcome gate at Nagabazar on Friday. According to members of the Nagabazar community, the victim came into contact with a live power line during the course of work and was electrocuted. Local residents and emergency responders rushed him to Putuonuo Hospital for initial treatment, before he was later referred to the ICU at Naga Hospital for advanced medical care.
The injured youth has been identified as Rahul Ali (18), son of Surjoeli Ali, a native of Assam currently residing at Naga Hospital Colony. He sustained serious injuries after coming into contact with the live electric line while painting the newly constructed colony gate. Community members stated that they would write to the Power Department requesting relocation of the overhead electric line to improve public safety and prevent similar incidents in the future. They also assured that all possible assistance would be extended to Rahul Ali and his family during this difficult time.
