One held for attempt to murder

One absconding accused namely Md. Mostokin Ali @ Mamu (26), son of Kutub Ali of Jugicherra village in Karimganj (Assam) who was wanted by the Kohima police in connection with South PS Kohima since October 19, 2014, was arrested on February 15 at around 1900 hrs from Kohima town.
The arrested person was wanted on the charges of attempting to murder and inflicting grievous injuries on a 16 years old Naga girl, a student of Class VIII and resident of Middle AG Colony, Kohima.
The incident occurred on October 19, 2014, at around 1800 hrs while the victim was returning home after visiting a friend at New colony (AG colony), Kohima, wherein the accused Md. Mostokin Ali alias Mamu caught hold of the victim and dragged her below the footpath and assaulted her with a blunt weapon without any reason.
The victim was rescued by the intervention of an immediate neighbor, who on hearing screaming sound of a lady, alerted other residents. After the incident, the accused had been absconding till he was apprehended on February 15 from Kohima.
The victim was medically examined from Naga Hospital Kohima. As per the medical report, she sustained multiple grievous injuries on the scalp (three cut injuries) measuring 3 cm, 2 cm and 3 cm caused by a blunt weapon.
The arrested person was accordingly produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Kohima on February 16 and remanded to police custody for conducting further investigation.
