Acting on specific information regarding transportation of contraband liquor, police personnel of South Police Station, Kohima, intercepted a Mahindra Scorpio and arrested one person with huge quantity of liquor on February 12 at around 0535 hrs.
The liquor was seized at Box Cutting area, Midland, Kohima, from a white Scorpio bearing Registration No. NL01 C-8756 with Engine No BF34E38329 and Chassis No MA1TA2BFC32E80572. Police seized 50 cases of IMFL including MC Rum (Plastic) 750 ml x 10 cases, MC Rum (Bottles) 750 ml x 10 cases, MC Rum (Bottles) 180 ml x 20 cases, OC Blue Whisky 375 ml x 5 cases, and Kingfisher can Beer 500 ml x 5 cases.
Accordingly, the driver of the vehicle namely Sanjay Thapa (21), son of Govind Thapa and resident of Old Ministers Hill, Kohima, was arrested. Regular case vide Kohima South PS case No. 0015/15 U/S 44 NLTP Act was registered against him.
SDPO and PRO, Kohima, informed that the records of the seized vehicle was verified from the Database of Motor Vehicle Co-ordination System maintained by the NCRB New Delhi and was suspected to be involved in connection with Lajpat Nagar/South –East/Delhi case No. 0272/2014.
