One Nagaland Run–5K in Mon

MON, AUG 18 (NPN): The NPF Mon Youth Wing Division conducted the “One Nagaland Run–5K | Mon District Run” on Monday as part of the state-wide initiative of the NPF Central Youth Wing under the slogan, “Running Together, Growing Together.”
The district-level run witnessed the participation of around 90 athletes in the Open Men’s and Women’s categories. The event was aimed at promoting fitness, healthy living and greater youth participation in sports, while also providing an opportunity for emerging athletes to showcase their abilities.
The organisers said the initiative was also intended to identify promising young runners who could compete at higher levels and provide them with a pathway to represent the district at the state level.
In the Men’s category, Manbo Konyak emerged as the winner, followed by Wangtho C. Wangsa in second place and Longpa in third.
In the Women’s category, Wangya secured the top position, while Ngongun finished second and Phamnyu placed third.
The NPF Central Youth Wing congratulated the winners and participants for their enthusiasm and sporting spirit. The qualifying athletes are scheduled to compete in the State Grand Finale of the One Nagaland Run–5K on August 22 at the Regional Centre for Sporting Excellence, Sovima, Chümoukedima.
The initiative was described as part of efforts to encourage a culture of fitness and sports participation among the youth and contribute towards building a healthier and stronger Nagaland.
