Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma announced that the process of forming the One North East Front is underway, with consultations ongoing with various leaders of different political parties from the North East region, Hub Network report stated.
“So, we have been consulting and talking to many of our leaders… a lot of people have seen that there’s a very positive thing to it,” Sangma told reporters on Thursday.
Sangma emphasized that the goal is ambitious and challenging, but the party is working towards achieving it.
“It’s something that is very desirable… many political parties have tried to move on forward in that and it’s not been so easy,” he added.
When asked about the timeline, Sangma said, “It’s not like a foundation for a particular project… it’s a process of different political minds coming together, it takes time, it’s not that simple.”
He assured that the intention is clear, and the party will work towards moving forward.
The NPP Chief declined to share more details, citing that the announcement is yet to be made.
“A lot of discussion has taken place, but it would not be appropriate for me to share that with all of you right now because it’s not been announced yet,” he said.
