Pokphur Village Council (PVC) under Kiphire district has stated that the government middle school (GMS) at Pokphur, which caters to students from three surrounding villages—Tukiavong, Limtsang and Tukhinkiu— was functioning with only five teachers.
In a press release, PVC chairman Yantsuthong said that it was not possible for five teachers to conduct classes from Class-A up to Class-VI. PVC also stated that the school with130 students had no peon/chowkidar.
The village council has, therefore, sought more subject teachers and supporting staff.
Further, PVC stated that the Primary Health Centre (PHC) building was inaugurated by the department in 2016, but expressed dismay that till date there was not even one medical staff posted there. The village council has, therefore, requested the responsible authority to intervene and initiate necessary action.
