
With the decline in Covid positivity rate across the State, including Dimapur, all private hospitals here have been relieved from admitting and treating Covid patients.
A decision in this regard was taken at a joint meeting of Private Doctors’ Association Dimapur with agriculture production commissioner and Dimapur’s nodal officer for Covid-19, Y Kikheto Sema and Team Dimapur comprising deputy commissioner (DC) Dimapur R. Soundararajan, commissioner of police (CP) Dimapur Rothihu Tetseo, chief medical officer (CMO) I Moatemjen and DPRO here on Monday.
Announcing the decision at a press conference later, Kikheto said only District Hospital Dimapur (DHD) and Christian Institute for Health Sciences & Research (CIHSR) would continue to treat Covid patients.
He explained that other private hospitals have been exempted from taking in new Covid patients for the time being in order to allow them to sustain themselves, besides looking after non-Covid patients.
He clarified that other private hospitals would continue to look after Covid patients admitted till Sunday, but would not take in any fresh Covid patients.
Kikheto also appreciated all private hospitals of Dimapur for coming forward in assisting the State government in handling Covid-19 cases. The APC informed the media that altogether 1,736 Covid patients were admitted to different hospitals in Dimapur. He said of the 1,736 total admitted, 26 were still hospitalised, while 286 died as per records available.
Also addressing the media, CMO said that 1,41,577 individuals had received their second dose of Covid vaccine, while 1,25,217 received their first dose.
He said, out of the total vaccinated individuals, 271 got infected with the virus after the first dose and 220 after the second dose, while 21 deaths were reported after the first dose and one death after the second dose.
On individuals getting infected even after vaccination, CMO asserted that the most cases very mild while deaths were due to comorbidities.
Meanwhile, Kikheto, who was made the nodal officer for managing Covid 19 activities in Dimapur for the second time earlier this, has now been relieved and will resume his duty as APC on Tuesday.
The DC and CP, who were also present at the press briefing, acknowledged and appreciated the APC for his tireless work and sacrifices in controlling the pandemic.
