Operation Salvage observed its 19th foundation day on June 7 on the theme, “Making the world free from the bondage of drugs and alcohol”.
NSCN (I-M) through its MIP informed that Operation Salvage, a rehabilitation centre, was established at Heningkunglwa village under Peren district in 2003, to reach out to drug abusers.
MIP said the foundation day was observed to send a message that it was still going strong “to save the life of many” who were lost in the “world of drugs and alcohol.”
At the programme, former inmates who recovered at the centre shared their testimonies while words of support and encouragement were shared by NMA, NSF, ZBCC and WSBAK.
Later, NSCN (I-M) executive member of steering committee and administrator of Operation Salvage, David Perie while narrating the past and present of operation salvage said, “We need to work in close relationship with God to face the life’s challenges”. He also acknowledged the support of community and churches.
The occasion was celebrated in the presence of representatives from NMA, NSF, ZBCC, WSBAK and NSCN dignitaries led by member, NSCN collective leadership, Rev Puni as chief guest. MIP informed that at present, operation salvage was looking after 70 inmates.
