NEW DELHI, SEP 28 (PTI): The Congress and its allies are attempting to vitiate the country’s atmosphere even after their lies on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls have been exposed by the election commissioners, Union minister J P Nadda said on Monday.
Nadda told reporters here that the “INDI Alliance” is devising new ways to spread “confusion and anarchy” because it is frustrated and despondent at the country’s progress. “We all witnessed the uproar created across the country just a few days ago over a fabricated story. Now that the members of the Election Commission have exposed every lie, they (opposition parties) are once again attempting to vitiate the atmosphere,” the Union minister said.
This is the same “toolkit mentality” that hatches a new conspiracy every morning to stall the nation’s development, he charged.
“Make allegations, disrupt the country’s atmosphere, and flee — this has become the opposition’s modus operandi,” he said.
“Lacking any coherent policies or vision, they are now devising new ways to spread confusion and anarchy across the nation,” he added. The Indian Express had reported on September 25 that Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi wrote separately to Cabinet Secretary TV Somanathan after issuance of a work allocation order within the Election Commission (EC) that “threatened to concentrate the powers” at the poll body centrally to add or delete names and update records in the voters’ list rather than allowing officials at the state level.
Nadda alleged that maligning and weakening the country’s autonomous and constitutional institutions has become the sole agenda of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav and former West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee.
“They care neither for national security nor for public welfare, national honour and dignity. Their only objective is to seize power, and that too, not for public service, but to nurture dynastic politics and reap personal benefits,” the BJP leader said.
“Rahul Gandhi ji, listen carefully: repeating a lie a hundred times does not make it the truth,” he said.
Nadda said the people of the country have fully understood the double standards and the negative politics of the opposition.
“People have taught a befitting lesson to the forces seeking to create instability in the country in the past, and will do so in the future too,” he said.
Nadda further said that for the BJP, power is not a means to indulge in luxury.
“Rather, it is a sacred instrument for ‘antyodaya’ (upliftment of the last person) and the service of 1.40 crore citizens. Their conspiracies and attempts to spread confusion will shatter in the people’s court,” he said.
Nadda said India is engaged in fulfilling the resolve of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ through the tireless efforts of its 1.40 crore people and it is also making a mark on the global stage.
“Unfortunately, the Congress and the entire INDI Alliance are frustrated and despondent at this progress,” the BJP leader said.
“All the fabricated allegations levelled by the opposition have repeatedly crumbled when tested against facts. From the Election Commission to the country’s apex courts, every lie they peddled has been exposed,” he said.
