Oral cancer screening & oral health awareness program held

In Observation of Oral Cancer Screening Month (April), the National Oral health Program (NOHP), Phek has conducted oral cancer screening & oral health awareness program with police personnel’s on April 30, at SP Office, Phek.
A press release from, NHM Phek district media officer Kutolu Nakro stated that at the programme SP Phek Dr. Pritpal Kaur, IPS in her exhortation has highlighted the participants on the side effects of tobacco and urged the jawans who consume tobacco to slowly limit their consumption and quit.
DTCC Phek Psychologist Neiweu Losou shared the harmful effects of tobacco and its consequences.
The screening of oral cancer was conducted by Dr. Kihito Dental Surgeon along with two Nurses from District Hospital Phek.
Total of 49 Jawans were screened and shared on the signs and symptoms of Oral cancer. Two cases of pre-cancerous lesions were found during screening and referred to district hospital for further review.
