Organisations back DCCI’s indefinite shutter down call

Various organisations– Chümoukedima Chamber of Commerce and Trade Association, Joint Council Forum of three colonies and Business Association of Darogapathar Village, have expressed solidarity with and announced support to Dimapur Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s (DCCI) call for an indefinite shutter down of all businesses in Dimapur from April 26.

CCCTA calls for one-day total shutter down: Chümoukedima Chamber of Commerce and Trade Association has called for a total shutter down on April 26 to show solidarity and support to DCCI for standing against unjust and rampant exploitation of the business community.
In a communiqué, CCCTA also reiterated that the unconducive environment created by Naga political groups (NPGs) with unabated and rising cases of harassment to the business community was a cause for concern.

Demanding that such illegal and coercion activities should be stopped once and for all for common good, the association lauded the law enforcement agencies for curbing illegal extortion in Chümoukedima town. Further, the association also appealed the responsible law enforcement agencies to clamp down on all prevalent organised crimes which the business community was made to bear on a daily basis.
Requesting civil society organisations and public of Chümoukedima town to bear with the inconvenience, CCCTA sought their support and co-operation in the fight for justice for the business community.
JCF backs DCCI: Joint Council Forum (JCF) of NST Colony, Churches Colony, and Middle Point has announced that it stood emphatically behind the DCCI’s decision to implement an indefinite shutdown of business establishments in response to the oppressive tactics and excessive taxation imposed by various NPGs.

JCF convener Pikato Chishi, and joint secretaries Moa Temsu and Kihovi Zhimomi in a statement claimed that business owners in Dimapur had been facing untold hardships, including intimidation, harassment, and repeated demands from these groups, adversely affecting their operations and livelihoods.
They unequivocally denounced these actions, pointing out these were not only unjust but also hindered the overall progress and development of the area.

They said the business community was facing a difficult situation as these NPGs were using their power to extort money from business owners under the guise of enforcing weights and measures regulations, and imposing taxes for opening their shops on Sunday.
Pointing out that such harassments were having a negative impact on the economy and on the trade being targeted, they urged law enforcement authorities to take action against such practices and ensure that businesses were able to operate without fear of extortion and harassment.

In a demonstration of unity and support, they also vowed to stand in solidarity with the DCCI and provide unwavering assistance to their cause. They urged CSOs and the public to unite and back the business community in confronting this unjust treatment.
They said it was crucial for authorities to promptly address these concerns and establish a favourable environment for businesses to thrive and positively impact the economy.
They asserted that businesses should not suffer from such unfair practices and called for a decisive action to rectify the situation promptly.
They also called on all stakeholders to unite and support the DCCI in the latter’s quest for justice and equality.

“Only through collective action and support can these injustices be addressed and an enabling environment be created for all individuals to succeed and prosper,” they underscored.
BADV announces support to DCCI: Business Association of Darogapathar Village (BADV) declared that it stood firmly with the DCCI’s call for indefinite shutter down from April 26 following the unending menace of unabated multiple taxation and illegal activities.
BADV president Otto Murumi and general secretary Renchothung Odyuo in a statement urged all business establishments within Darogapathar village jurisdiction to extend their full cooperation and support the cause.
