Several organisations have expressed shock and condemned the granting of bail to a person, reportedly a principal of a school, accused of child molestation..
DSTH: Dimapur Sumi Totimi Hoho has vehemently opposed the release on bail of the accused child molester.
In a press release, its president Yekali B Kiba and general secretary Hekhuli Zhimomi expressed concern over the release of the said culprit and “the authosrised validity of the medical certificate produced by the culprit dating back to 2013/2014” was also questioned.
It urged upon the responsible officials to revoke the decision owing to the fact that the case fell under the purview of the POSCO Act 2019.
“As children are the future of tomorrow and their security is the society’s utmost responsibility, no child perpetrators should get scott-free”, it stated.
Further, DSTH appealed to the responsible authority to initiate necessary action at the earliest and deliver justice to the child victim’s family.
SKK: All Sumi Students’ Union (SKK) has expressed its displeasure to learn that the accused who was booked under the “Section 376 IPC R/W 6 POSCO Act” was granted bail based on the medical record dated back to 2013-14 which SKK said was “not justifiable”.
SKK through its media cell stated that while it had faith that the court of law would look into the matter upon the genuine call of organisations, it urged upon the responsible authority to detain the culprit and “assure that the accused does not get away under the shield of law”.
It also stated that the All Sumi Students’ Union being an apex student organisation of Sumi tribe would “initiate its own course of action if compelled to which our move may not be appealing”.
Further, it stated that the SKK would stand firm on its decision to give justice to the victim who was a bonafide member of its union.
TSUD: The Tenyimi Students’ Union Dimapur has vehemently condemned the molestation of a minor girl.
In a condemnation note, TSUD through its finance secretary Asin Rengma stated that it was appalled by the acts committed by the accused and that “such deranged individuals must be strictly dealt with”.
It also appealed to the judiciary to thoroughly examine the case and immediately order the “re-arrest of the culprit in order to give justice to the victim and reassure the public of our trust in the law as per the severity of the crime”.
DRSU: Dimapur Rengma Students’ Union has strongly condemned the vicious act.
DRSU through its media cell stated that it was enraged to know that the accused person was released on bail which was “highly questionable, since the accused was granted bail after only being merely examined of his old past medical report of 2013”.
The union, therefore appealed to the state government to institute an inquiry committee and take appropriate action under the provisions of the law and justice be delivered, and issue a non-bailable warrant under IPC section 354.
CSU: Chakhroma Students’ Union while strongly condemning the molestation of the minor stated that such “sick and maniac behavior should have no place in society”.
The union through its president Zhasakholie Kehie and general secretary Menuolhousie Tsükrü questioned “on what ground the molester was granted bail as the release of the culprit on bail based on the medical certificates dated back to 2013/2014 is a mockery to the judicial system and does not in what so ever manner serve justice to the victim”.
The union has appealed to all the right thinking citizens and organisations to come forward and stand for what was just and right.
