Several organisations have come out in condemnation of the November 20 drive-by shooting where unidentified armed miscreants opened fire at a two-wheeler showroom — Riven Honda — at River Belt Colony, near Notun Bosti junction.
LHD: Lotha Hoho Dimapur (LHD) has strongly condemned the firing incident and “assassination attempt” against the business community particularly on innocent local entrepreneurs.
In a condemnation note, LHD secretary, Rainbow Ngullie, said such cowardly acts of the perpetrators has undermined the voice of the people to curb the menace of cooperation and uncontrolled collection of unauthorised taxes.
LHD has appreciated and extended support to PAC under the banner of Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) in its efforts to fight against the social menace. The hoho also urged the law enforcing agency to immediately arrest the perpetrators and award befitting punishment as per the law.
Stating that Naga people and bona fide citizens could no longer remain silent, LHD has urged all responsible people to unite together to defeat these anti-social elements so as to secure the life of the innocent for a better future.
NWHD: Naga Women Hoho Dimapur (NWHD) has expressed shame at the act of miscreants “attempting to murder and firing” at Riven showroom.
A condemnation by NWHD publicity and information secretary, Keninguno Kath stated that in spite of the citizens and business community repeatedly raising their voices against criminal activities, the miscreants have only continued to act shamelessly, to the extent of targeting women in the society, which, it said, is intolerable and unbecoming.
NWHD has requested the commissioner of Police to deploy more police personnel in commercial areas during the festive season as the season “gives birth to more criminals”. It also asked the business community to cooperate with the investigating team and to not hush up details as it only encourages such criminals to commit more crimes.
RRUD: Ralan Range Union Dimapur (RRUD), has also condemned the firing incident at a showroom owned by its area member.
In a condemnation note, RRUD chairman, Mhonyamo Ngullie and general secretary, Renpen Tungoe, stated that when Nagas were yearning for peace and promoting “work and eat” culture, “lazy hooligans” were threatening the life of hardworking individuals, honest Naga entrepreneurs and peace loving citizens. This, it said, should be condemned by all.
Further, RRUD has demanded that the law enforcing agency apprehend the culprits and award befitting punishment as per the law of the land.
LEED: Lotha Eloe Ekhung Dimapur (LEED), vehemently condemning the indiscriminate firing in a condemnation by LEED president, Zujano Patton, said that escalating violence against women in recent days has been creating a fear psychosis and mistrust, demoralizing the few upcoming Naga women entrepreneurs. LEED has requested the authorities to nab the culprits at the earliest and award them befitting punishment.
RALH: Ralan Area Lotha Hoho (RALH) has strongly condemned the shooting incident in a condemnation not by RALH chairman, Hayithung Kikon and general secretary, C. S. Ovung. RALH has asked the perpetrators to refrain from such activities which, it said, are not acceptable in today’s civilised society. It also pointed out that such actions were uncalled for especially when all the Churches, elders and Naga people as a whole were praying for peace and tranquillity in the state. RALH, while urging the law enforcing agency to leave no stone unturned in bringing the culprits to justice, has also appealed all right thinking citizens to come together and fight to erase such senseless menaces from society.
HEOW: Humtsothung Ekhung Okying Wokha (HEOK) has condemned the cowardly act and added that such acts should not be accepted or tolerated by peace loving citizens.
In a press note, HEOK president, R Nrio Humtsoe and general secretary, Thungchamo Humtsoe, prayed for peace and solidarity for the staff and proprietor of the showroom.
HEW: Humtsothung Ekhung Wokha (HEW) has condemned the cowardly shooting incident at Riven Honda showroom by “unidentified frustrated miscreants.”
A condemnation note by HE Wokha president, R. Nrio Humtsoe and general secretary, Thungchamo Humtsoe stated that whoever they were, such acts will never be accepted or tolerated by peace loving citizens anywhere. HEW further prayed for peace and for solidarity for the shocked staff and proprietor of Riven Honda.
YUD: The Yimchungrü Union Dimapur (YUD) has vehemently condemned the shooting through a press release issued by its president, Albinus Atsumong. The union said that firing at a house was same as a life attempt as per Naga customs and whatever the issue, it should be negotiated according to the Naga customary law and practices in good faith and mutual understanding.
YUD also said that, such a “ghastly act” was not a good sign for the process of peace and reconciliation among various sections of society. The YUD further said that, this kind of activities creates a fear psychosis in the minds of the peace loving general public when the people were at the verge of celebrating the birth of Jesus. It further appealed to all to shun violence, killings, threats, intimidations and other unwanted activities in and around the town as well as throughout the state in order to create a congenial peaceful atmosphere in the larger interest of the people and society.
