DIMAPUR: Sümi Totimi Hoho (STH), Eastern Sümi Totimi Hoho (ESTH), Yimkhiung Women Organisation (YWO), Zeliangrong Mipui Organisation (ZMON) and Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong (KNSK) have strongly condemned the recent incidents of sexual assault reported from Kiphire and Kohima, expressing grave concern over rising crimes against women and children.

In a press release, STH media cell stated that an Armed Branch constable of DEF Kiphire allegedly assaulted an 82 year old woman, while in another case a 40 year old youth leader from Kohima village was accused of sexually assaulting a 17 year old girl during church related work.
The Hoho described the incidents as “heinous and unacceptable,” stressing that such acts violate the dignity, safety and rights of women and children. It called for accountability and moral responsibility from all sections of society and urged authorities to ensure justice without delay.
STH further appealed to community leaders, citizens and institutions to remain vigilant and safeguard the rights of vulnerable groups, while reaffirming its commitment to stand against all forms of violence and exploitation.
ESTH: Eastern Sümi Totimi Hoho (ESTH) has strongly condemned the alleged sexual assault committed against an elderly woman by an Armed Branch constable, identified as Heluikie Nsanglung, in Kiphire. In a press release, ESTH president, Ghonili Sumi and secretary, Kavili Sumi described the act as “deeply inhuman” and a grave violation of human dignity. The Hoho urged authorities to ensure a fair investigation and deliver justice under relevant laws.
It extended solidarity and support to the victim and her family, reaffirming its commitment to safeguard human dignity, promote justice, and stand against exploitation, abuse and violence.
YMO: Yimkhiung Women Organisation (YWO) has strongly condemned the alleged sexual assault of an 82 year old woman in Kiphire town on June 17, reportedly committed by an Armed Branch constable, Heilukie Nsanglung.
In a press release, YWO president, K. Esther and general secretary, A. Henry expressed shock and anguish over the incident, describing it as a grave violation of human dignity and Naga customary values. The organisation extended solidarity with the survivor and her family, and urged authorities to conduct a fair and expeditious investigation to ensure justice.

In a press release, ZMON president, Apeuna Iheilung and general secretary, Hiatwagongle Herie called for a thorough investigation and strict legal action against the accused, stressing that such crimes must be met with zero tolerance.
