Several organizations have come out in support of DCCI’s call for an the indefinite shutter down of all shops and business establishments in Dimapur from April 26.
PDADNC: Petroleum Dealers’ Association of Dimapur, Niuland and Chümoukedima (PDADNC) has reaffirmedits full support to the DCCI’s indefinite shutterdown to protest against the unabated multiple taxation, intimidation, summons, and harassment meted out to the business community by various Naga political groups (NPGs).
Noting that all these were taking place right under the nose of the administration and police, association’s president Onen Aier and general secretary Pretso Therie in a statement lamented that no exemplary action had been taken to stop the menace. They requested the government to rein in the situation to avoid further complications.
They also requested all retail outlets of different petroleum companies in Dimapur, Niuland and Chümoukedima to cooperate with the indefinite shutter down called by DCCI, while appealing the public to bear with the inconvenience.
AYO: Understanding the serious implications and consequences of illegal taxation and extortion prevailing in the society, the Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) has announced extending not only solidarity but rendering all out cooperation to DCCI’s indefinite shutter down in Dimapur, the one-day shutter down called by Chümoukedima Chamber of Commerce &Trade Association (CCCTA) and the Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI).
AYO president Kesosul Christopher Ltu and vice-president Dievi Yano in a press release said it was an undeniable fact that rampant extortion and unabated illegal taxation by Naga political groups (NPGs) and anti-social elements hadleft the business community with untold hardships and difficulties in sustaining their establishments.
Taking into consideration the menace of illegal taxation and extortion by NPGs and its toll on the common citizens who were ultimately made to bear the brunt of such nefarious activities, they urged the general public and the business community to support the common cause.
DDTMOA: Dimapur District Timber Mill Owners’ Association (DDTMOA) has announced full solidarity and support to the proposed indefinite shutdown of business establishments called by the DCCIin response to the unabated taxation.
DDTMOA president Mughato Yeptho in a press release said the association understood the gravity of the situation and commend DCCI’s courage in taking a stand against such unlawful activities that threatened the stability and prosperity of the business community.
DDGWTU: The Dimapur District Garage Welfare Trade Union (DDGWTU) fully endorsedthe call for an indefinite shutter down by the DCCI.
DDGWTU president Hukavi S Murru and vice-president Kuhoi Zhimomi in a press note insisted that the issues raised by the DCCI regarding unabated multiple taxation, intimidation, illegal summons ofthe business community members and various other nefarious activities of the NPGs should be properly addressed by the district administration on priority basis, so that the public did not suffer on account of the closure of business activities in the state’s commercial hub.
PBUD: Pork Butchers’ Union Dimapur (PBUD) president Shikato T Swu too announced that the union would extend its full support and cooperation to the indefinite shutter down called by the DCCI against multiple illegal taxation.
PDCCI: Peren District Chamber of Commerce & Industry (PDCCI) has declared its solidarity with DCCI in its decision to call for an indefinite shutter down, addressing a shared demand. PDCCI President Haizin Mpom and Secretary Irangbui emphasized that the issue transcends individual districts, affecting the entire state of Nagaland.
The trade body pledged steadfast support to DCCI and CNCCI in advocating for this cause.
