Several organisations have condemned the alleged rape and murder attempt on a mother of four at Botsa village on July 16.
TRK: The Tsiemekhu Razou Kehou (TRK) strongly condemned the reported rape and murder attempt by one Khrietuolie Kense, son of Savituo Kense from Tsiemekhu Basa.
TRK president Zhavilie Rupreo and secretary Dr Kevizakie Rio, Tsiemekhuma Village Council chairman Merise Rupreo and Tsiemekhu Basa Village Council chairman ZhasalieThepa said they bow their heads in shame and shared a deep sense of outrage, sorrow and empathy for the mother who was a bona fide citizen of Botsa village.
As they struggled to comprehend the depths of such brutality, they declared that they stood in solidarity with the victim’s family and demanded justice.
They assured the Botsa Village Council of being committed to work alongside in demanding justice. “We will support your every step of the way, from advocating for swift and thorough investigations, ensuring that the perpetrator face the full weight of the law,” they stated.
TVC: Strongly condemning the horrific rape and murder attempt on the lady by Khrietuolie, Tuophema Village Council (TVC) asserted that the inhuman and barbaric act was a grave violation of human dignity and had deeply shocked the entire community.
TVC publicity & information secretary Neitho-o Kense in a press release applauded the courageous efforts of Botsa villagers and Botsa Youth Organisation in rescuing the victim and apprehending the accused, who had since been handed over to the police.
He urged the authorities to ensure that justice was swiftly delivered and that the accused was awarded the severest punishment under the law.
AWO: Angami Women Organisation (AWO) expressed outrage and condemned the heinous act of attempted rape and murder of a woman from Botsa village.
Noting that the assault occurred at knifepoint while the victim was returning from her field, AWO president Neithono R Sothu and general secretary Atono Kense in a statement said the despicable act committed by Khrietuolie from Tsiemekhu Basa village was not only a crime against an individual, but an attack on the dignity, safety and rights of all women in the society.
Strongly condemning the brutal and cowardly assault on a woman, a mother to four children, they also lauded the courage and bravery of the victim, who fought against her attacker sustaining serious injuries to her neck, wrist and finger in the process.
They demanded a swift, thorough and impartial investigation by the law enforcing agency and authorities concerned, and ensure that justice was delivered without delay and in accordance with the full provisions of the law.
NAWO: The Northern Angami Women Organisation (NAWO) strongly condemned the attempted rape and murder on one of its members, a mother of four children, on the evening of July 16.
Maintaining that such despicable and inhumane crime was an anathema to a civilised society, NAWO president Kedisenuo Keditsu and secretary Ketsokhrieü Kesitsu in a press release expressed solidarity with all like-minded individuals and organisations, declaring that they stood strong with and in support of the victim and her family in this time of distress. They implored the investigating agency to conduct a thorough probe into the matter, free from any procedural infirmity, and place the matter before the judicial forum at the earliest so that justice could be delivered to the victim and her family.
They also called upon the criminal justice delivery system to perform to the best of its ability so that justice could not only be done, but also be seen to be done.
They reminded all persons, especially those within their jurisdiction, to subject themselves to the rule of law, which was the very foundation of a civilised society.
