Organizations condemn ‘manhandling’ of ADC Peren

Several organizations have strongly condemned the “manhandling” of ADC Peren, Keyirangding Hegui allegedly by a group of youths on October 21.

ZOAN: In a condemnation note, Zeliang Officers Association Nagaland (ZOAN) president Dr. Hiabe Zeliang and general secretary Raithu Newmai said that Keyirangding Hegui was allegedly man-handled by a group of youths in an inebriated state while passing through National Highway at Jalukie B village area.

Such act of harassment meted out to one of the respected officers and a bonafide member of ZOAN was unacceptable, it said. ZOAN appealed to the district administration and police to arrest the miscreants and book them under relevant provisions of the law.

ZOAN further said that village councils and youth organisations along the highway should ensure free and safe passage to all travellers and keep a vigil on anti-social elements operating in their respective jurisdiction, especially during the night.

PSUN: Peren Students’ Union Nagaland (PSUN) also denounced the man-handling of ADC Peren by “intoxicated youths” along the National Highway stretch at Jalukie B village. The union said that such act of lawlessness and threat on the live of a competent local officer by unscrupulous elements was malicious and unacceptable.

“This stretch of the road has raises eyebrows on the safety and security of the passerby at night even in the past for which the youth organization must enforce stricter laws to ensure their youths do not indulge in such malpractices,” PSUN president Mireuyi Herie said in a press note. Further, the union urged the law enforcing agency to book and chargesheet the perpetrators and expedite the case so that exemplary punishment was meted out.

PYFN: Peren Youth Federation Nagaland (PYFN) vehemently condemned the assault of its member and ADC Peren by inebriated youths “impersonating as volunteers of Jalukie B Youth Organization” on October 21 night.
In a press note, PYFN president Tingba Hegui said that the disrespect and disregard for an efficient local administrative officer and son of the soil was an offence, which PYF shall never pardon. The federation said that such instances had occurred unnoticed wherein travelers had to go through turmoil on this stretch of the National Highway at night.

“If officers of the law and order agencies are attacked what ordeal will a layman face?” PYFN asked. It, therefore, asked the Jalukie B village council and youth organization to guarantee safety of the passengers and enforce stricter laws so that such malpractices do not occur.

PYF also called upon all right-thinking citizens to denounce such acts and called for exemplary punishment against the culprits for the security and safety of the passerby in the near future.
