Organizations condemn rape

MTLT: Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem (MTLT) has condemned the alleged rape of a minor girl by one Rahul Sen, son of Subrata Sen of Namrup Bengal Gaon in Assam’s Dibrugarh district in Mon town.
In a condemnation note, MTLT vice president, Martoshi Longkumer and grievances cell, Aolong Imchen stated that the act of violation of a young 13 year old girl on not only one occasion but also on earlier two different occasions, was “infuriating”, “disgusting” and “downright inhuman”.
Moreover, the audacity of the accused in threatening the victim ‘of dire consequences if she disclosed the matter to anyone’ was something to be taken quite seriously by Naga society, MTLT stated.
While acknowledging that there were many responsible and respectful mainland non-locals living peacefully all over Nagaland, MTLT has appealed to the sensible mainland Indians to root out such anti-socials who tarnish the good image of the peace loving non-local business community in Naga society.
MTLT demanded the most stringent of punishments for the accused person.
It demanded that the law enforcing agencies expedite the case in the greater interest of justice.
Furthermore, the Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem (MTLT) appealed the Nagaland State Women Commission to take stock of the situation and rehabilitate the unfortunate victim through appropriate government schemes and programmes.
ENWO: Eastern Nagaland Women Organization (ENWO) has condemned the recent Mon rape incident where a 12 years old girl was allegedly raped by one Rahul Sen. The organization vehemently condemned the brutal and inhuman act meted out upon a minor. ENWO said it was anguished and pained to see such happenings in society, where a girl child was not safe and was physically and mentally traumatized. The ENWO president, Ayong Chang and general secretary, Ruthsan appealed to the law enforcing agencies to award befitting punishment as per law so that such incidents do not occur in future.
