Organizations conduct ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’

Joining with the rest of the state, Gandhi Jayanti was observed at Longleng by organizing cleanliness drive cum wild brooms distribution by the students of Good Shepherd High School Longleng, with brand ambassador, Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) Longleng, Longtam Phom as the chief guest. 
In a formal programme organized at school campus, Longtam Phom applauded the management of the school for carrying out cleanliness drive and creating awareness of hygienic living in Longleng town for the last 10 (ten) years. He also encouraged the students to form groups even in their own locality in order to keep the town clean. On the occasion the chief guest also formally declared Good Shepherd High School to be the first School in Longleng district nominated for Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) and further urged the head of the school to nominate 9 (nine) sub-committee members from the school.
Also speaking on the occasion, proprietor of the school, Paul .H. Bulong Menhahu explained the motives behind the introduction of cleanliness drive in school curriculum since 2000. He also encouraged the students to take active part in such activities in order to make the society better place to live.
The cleanliness drive which started from the school campus, culminated at public ground where the head master of the school, Binoy. V. George appreciated the students and well wishers who took part during the event. 
DIMAPUR: As part of swatch bharat mission, social work was conducted by St.Thomas Mission Society Member (STMSM) and MGM Higher Secondary School  (MGMHSS) students along with their teachers at the school premises, road sides of Midland colony, Kerala Samajam, MGOS Church, United Baptist Church, MGM B.Ed college, Rotary club, SEWAK main gate area etc.
 Altogether 1100 students participated in the mission along with 50 teachers and principal. 
Addressing the morning assembly, MGMHSS principal Fr.P.S.Vareghese, highlighted the importance of Gandhi Jayanthi and Swatch Bharat Mission. He asserted that cleanliness drive should start from personal life, cleanliness habit of a single person has to grow to family and its influence should reflect in the society. 
He mentioned that “we” should keep one’s home and surroundings clean to have a healthy life and also highlighted the examples of developed countries and the responsibility of the citizens to keep their country neat & clean. “If everyone took it as a personal need and challenge in their future, we will be also become a clean nation” he added.   
HPBWC: Hazi Park Businessmen Welfare Committee (HPBWC) organized a cleanliness drive in the market area under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. All the shops were closed upto 10 a.m. and the entire area was cleaned. HPBWC further thanked the business community of the entire area for participation and co-operation extended towards this noble cause.
Immanuel College: Immanuel College students and teachers of conducted a social work in and around the college campus on October1. During the social work, they cleaned the college campus, classrooms and boundary wall.
PVHSS: Pranab Vidyapith Higher Secondary School (PVHSS), Dimapur participated in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. During the programme, primary students cleaned the whole School building whereas secondary students joined the drive. Both the School buildings along with the surrounding areas were cleaned by the students.
