DIMAPUR

Sümi Council Unity Village (SCUV), Lotha Community Unity Village (LCUV), Unity Village Women Organisation (UVWO), and Ao Union Unity Village (AUUV) have strongly condemned the violent incident that occurred on May 23, 2025, in Unity Village.
SCUV leaders Kikato K Jimo and N. Sukhato Chophy described the intrusion and reckless firing at Mughato Chophy’s residence as a serious threat to public safety. They emphasized that SCUV was not affiliated with any group but firmly opposes any actions that disturb peace. The council urged authorities to take action against those responsible. LCUV expressed shock and disappointment, stating that the attack had endangered the peace and safety of innocent residents. The community called on law enforcement agencies to intervene and emphasized the need for unity among the Nagas.
UVWO condemned the incident as hooliganism and attempted murder and appealed to the political groups to prioritize peace and respect village traditions. The organization also reaffirmed support for the Unity Village Council Resolution passed on May 25, 2025. AUUV denounced the armed violence, stating that repeated such incidents have caused fear among villagers and threatened law and order. The union affirmed its support for the six-point resolution adopted by the Unity Village Council on May 24, 2025, in an effort to maintain peace and security. All four organizations demanded justice and called for immediate intervention to restore law and order in Unity Village.
