Organizations pre-mark World Environment Day

With the approach of World Environment Day 2018, to be observed on June 5, various organizations and institutions have been conducting activities and programmes to mark the event.
BHSS: Bethesda Higher Secondary School (BHSS), Dimapur commemorates the first phase of World Environment Day (WED)-2018 with a painting competition on June 4, under the theme “Beat plastic pollution”. 
A press release from the school said the competition is being conducted in groups, group-A (class 9 &10), group-B (6 to 8) and group C (3 to 5), and will continue till June 5, with a seminar for Class 9 and 10, and quiz for class 11 and 12 (science and arts streams).
The release stated that the theme for World Environment Day 2018 urges governments, industries, communities, and individuals to come together and explore sustainable alternatives and urgently reduce the production and excessive use of single-use plastic products polluting our oceans, damaging marine life and threatening human health.
EDSBC: East Dimapur Sumi Baptist Church (EDSBC) Christian Education Department (CED), Purana Bazaar organized a cleanliness drive on June 2 as a pre cursor to World environment Day which will be observed across the world on June 5. 
As part of the cleanliness drive, Sunday School children along with associate pastor, Grace Wotsa, and Sunday school teachers cleaned and collected litter at main bazaar area at Puran bazaar. The objective of the cleanliness drive was to spread the awareness among the people under the theme “Cleanliness is next to Godliness.”
SCMI & LBC: Student Christian Movement of India (SCMI), North East Zone 2, in collaboration with Lhomithi Baptist Church (LBC) observed World Environment day at Lhomithi Baptist Church, Dimapur, on June 3. 
According to a press release issued by SCMI (NE Zone 2), programme secretary, Tolly T Yeptho, SCMI distributed 100 saplings to Lhomithi Church to mark the occasion.
The programme was chaired by Hokuto Yeptho, introduction about SCMI was given by programme secretary, Tolly T Yeptho, and speech on World Environment Day was delivered by Kughaka Aye.
