Various organisations have condemned the April 17 incident in Kohima where a 12-year-old girl was allegedly raped by one Yankiuba Yimchunger in Kohima.
ENWOK: Eastern Nagaland Women Organisation Kohima (ENWOK) has strongly condemned the rape of a minor girl and said that such perpetrators who carry out inhumane and barbaric acts of this kind should be condemned by all in the strongest of terms.
In a condemnation note, Eastern Nagaland Women Organisation Kohima said the perpetrator should be awarded a befitting punishment so that it would serve as a deterrent for the future. It has also appealed the concerned authority to take stringent action against the accused as per provisions of the law and grant no bail under any circumstances. ENWOK said it stand with the victims and their families in the pursuit of justice.
KCSU: Kohima Chakhesang Students’ Union (KCSU) while condemning the alleged rape has extended solidarity with the victim and the family, who are undergoing through the physical and mental trauma inflicted on them.
In a condemnation note, Kohima Chakhesang Students’ Union president, Khrokute Lohe also extended support and cooperation with the concerned authorities in delivering justice to the victim and appealed the higher authorities to leave no stone unturned in delivering quick justice.
The union also hoped that the authority would take a firm step against those who committed this heinous crime in the form of capital punishment, so that no one could dare again to commit such cursed and revolting crime.
