Oriental College celebrates 25 years

Oriental College Kohima celebrated its silver jubilee on Thursday at the college campus with Khriehu Liezietsu, MLA, as the special guest.
In his address, Liezietsu congratulated the college on attaining the milestone and acknowledged the pioneers, who were youths from Christian Revival Church, Kohima Village (CRCKV), for their vision and service towards the society.
Recalling the humble beginning of the college, Liezietsu said today the college does not only have well-developed infrastructure but has been providing “quality education and personality development” to students for last 25 years, which in itself was a “success story”.
Stating that education was the bedrock of development in all aspects of life, he said with such an institution in the area, the locality must have witnessed growth not only in education but economically and in in employment sector.
Sharing the jubilee message, college principal, Dr. Ketshukietuo Dzüvichü said the college started with 58 students and three guest lecturers as its first batch of arts stream (1996-97).
In a span of 25 years, Dr. Ketshukietuo said a total of 10,351 students had enrolled in the college and 3913 students had graduated.
Earlier, Liezietsu unveiled the jubilee monolith to mark the occasion.
The programme was chaired by vice principal, Dr. Gopal Chetri; jubilee blessing was offered by CRCKV pastor, Rev. Vichülie Kelio; college anthem was performed by Virie Solo and Kevingunuo Suokhrie while organising committee co-convenor, Theyieneinuo Belho shared the college memoir and special numbers were presented by Oriental College staff and Sr. CYE, CRCKV.
