Oriental College, Kohima celebrated its 28th Freshers’ Day with great enthusiasm at the college auditorium.
Addressing the gathering, Vice Chairman of the Management Board, Mhalezolie Kire, urged students to embrace every opportunity for their holistic development. He encouraged the entire college community to foster a welcoming and dynamic environment, while continuing to uphold the rich legacy and values of the institution.
He also spoke on the importance for balanced digital usage, warning against the overuse of electronic devices due to potential health implications. He emphasized that while technology is an important tool, it should not come at the cost of academic focus.
The occasion also marked a significant moment for the college with the formal induction of the new Principal, Dr. Watinaro Longkumer. In her address, Dr. Longkumer expressed her eagerness to contributing positively to the institution.
The audience was treated to special performances by students from BA 3rd and 5th Semesters, adding colour and vibrancy to the event. Speeches were delivered on behalf of the seniors and freshers by Vituozo Rio and Kevinuo Kulnu respectively and Velotsuh and Khuloi Shiu were crowned Mr. and Miss Fresher respectively.
The formal programme was chaired by OCKSU, General Secretary, Meguozolie Pienyü, invocation by Assistant Professor, Department of History, Aboli Chikhe, welcome address by Vice Principal (Academics), Dr. Kevizakielie Suokhrie and special prayer for the fresher’s was offered by CRC, Senior Pastor, Lhouvizhü Sachü and the vote of thanks was proposed by BA 5th Semester, Külüthilü Rhakho. The informal session was compered by Kevizo Miasalhou and Kezhaneinuo Kruse, both from BA 3rd Semester.
