Orientation on AAA held in Immanuel College

Immanuel College, Dimapur and Mt. Mary College, Chumoukedima jointly organised faculty orientation on Academic and Administrative Audit (AAA) on March, 7 at Immanuel College’s Conference Hall with Dr. Vinyuhu Lhoungu, coordinator, IQAC Dimapur Govt. College, Dimapur as the resource person of the day.
A press release by convenor, Media Cell, IMC, Gwesy Michuing, stated that Dr. Lhoungu, in his address, spoke on Academic and Administrative Audit (AAA), a peer review process that analyses and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of an institution’s academic and administrative activities, an assessment that helps institutions to work for quality improvement.
Highlighting the major objectives of NAAC, he outlined several ways of achieving them. First, he emphasised on self-evaluation of the institution, an important aspect that analysis strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and challenges (SWOC) which plays a crucial role. Second, to identify bottlenecks in the existing system of academic activities. Third, the need to evaluate the optimum utilisation of financial and other resources, where both external and internal audits are required. Lastly, to suggest methods for continuous improvement in quality assessment.
Stating that there is no specific methodology or guideline from NAAC on how to conduct AAA, the resource person pointed out several key preparation steps for institutions to face the peer team. These include the formation of IQAC with dedicated members and funding, proper documentation and data consolidation where every claim must be substantiated by documented evidence, innovation in teaching, examinations, and internal assessment processes.
He also stressed on the outcome-based education, where students should be imparted holistic knowledge encompassing both curricular and co-curricular aspects.
He further spoke on the importance of exit meeting of AAA, during which the peer team provides suggestions and recommendations that are essential for institutions to improve and enhance both academic and administrative system.
The session was chaired by Dr. Naruti Longkumer, Asst. Prof. Dept. of Chemistry and invocation was spoken by Jullie I Awomi, warden, Girls’ Hostel. Dr. Th. Sharatchandra Singh, principal, Immanuel College delivered the welcome note and a special performance was presented by Akhrienuo.
Dr. Basant Giri, coordinator, IQAC, Mt. Mary College led the interactive session and Nengpilhing, coordinator, IQAC, Immanuel College proposed the vote of thanks.
