Central Integrated Pest Management Centre (CIPMC), Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, GoI, Dimapur, concluded its two-day orientation training programme, “Mastery Training for Insecticide Inspectors and Combating FAW through AESA Approach”. The program was held on August 17 and 18, at Village Council Hall, Bade, marking a significant step in enhancing knowledge and skills related to insecticide management and AESA approach to combating Fall Armyworm (FAW) infestations in agriculture.
Speaking with assistant plant protection officer (Entomology), CIPMC Dimapur, Imlirenla Longkumer at the training site, stated that the training was meticulously designed to address critical aspects of agricultural sustainability, focusing on pesticide regulations, adverse effects of pesticides on agro-ecosystems, and effective implementation of AESA approach to combat FAW. Plant protection officer (Entomology), CIPMC, Dimapur, Gokulraam M, highlighted the importance of responsible pesticide use for maintaining environmental and human health. He also elucidated the regulatory framework governing pesticide usage in India.
Meanwhile, assistant plant protection officer (Entomology), at CIPMC Shillong, Dr. Devaraja KP, conducted field demonstration that showcased the adverse effects of pesticides, while scientist, ICAR-Research Complex, NEHR, Medziphema, Dr. Mathews Baite, presented on the current scenario of FAW in India and Nagaland, along with insights into effective implementation of AESA approach to combat pest. On the first day, a total of 30 Horticulture officers from Govt of Nagaland and 18 farmers from Bade village participated.
