A one-day orientation on school self evaluation-Shaala Siddhi was organised by District Mission Authority (DMA), Samagra Shiksha Kohima at Ura Academy, here on Friday.
A total of 169 teachers from one each from 169 government schools under Kohima district took part in the orientation.
Delivering the welcome address, district education officer & district project coordinator, DMS, SS Kohima, Emilo Patton said, the success and achievement of any school depends on the quality education provided to the students.
In this regard, she said the program was launched to create a culture of continuous improvement in schools by promoting self evaluation. She informed that Shaala Siddhi empowers schools to take ownership to work towards achieving excellence in all aspects of education and has become an important instrument for any school.
Patton said education was a continuous learning process and that schools occupy the most important agency of education. “Unless the schools are run properly, quality education will not take place. School heads and teachers are directly involved in the process of students’ education and are responsible for all the happenings in the schools,” she said. While acknowledging the numerous issues and challenges in the schools, Patton urged all the gathered teachers to convert these challenges into opportunities and try to bring positive changes in the schools.
Resource persons at the orientation included joint mission director, SMA, Dr Chumbeni Kikon, State coordinator, SMA, Rukuzo Hoshi and PGT, RGHSS Kohima, Orenvungo Yanthan.
